Yaqueline Clauss, ESOL Specialist and sponsor of the Intercultural Exchange Club at Anacostia High School, used a Realize the Dream Community Service Grant to host an International Food Festival to promote cultural exchange and language access.
With club members, students and families, local restaurants and school volunteers, the event brought together foods, traditions, and performances from various cultures—giving students meaningful leadership and advocacy opportunities while strengthening community connections. “The festival showed that when we trust young people to lead, they rise to the challenge in ways that exceed our expectations.

Chief Dream Ambassadors Stephen and Ayesha Curry have partnered with RTD in a long-term collaboration with their foundation, Eat. Learn. Play., pledging 100,000 volunteer hours to support Oakland’s youth and neighborhoods while inspiring service nationwide.
“Oakland has always held a very special place in our hearts, and we believe deeply in the power of service to create lasting change,” said Stephen and Ayesha Curry. “Partnering with Realize the Dream allows us to honor Dr. King’s legacy and mobilize our community around a shared mission—ensuring every child has the chance to learn, play, and thrive.”
